La Liga side Villarreal are closing in on snapping up Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera.

The Colombian defender only recently arrived back at Wolves following a loan stint in the MLS at FC Cincinnati.

It has been speculated that Mosquera would be sent out on a fresh loan by Wolves, but boss Gary O’Neil was keen to take a look at him first.

Now Spanish side Villarreal are moving to snap up Mosquera on loan and, according to Spanish daily AS, appear to be close to having a deal in place with Wolves.

The idea of Mosquera moving to Villarreal came up during talks between the two clubs about attacker Goncalo Guedes.

Guedes recently completed a loan move from Wolves to Villarreal.

Now the Yellow Submarine want another reinforcement from Molineux and Mosquera fits the bill.

Villarreal currently sit just 14th in La Liga and have endured a leaky backline this season, conceding 42 goals in just 21 games.

They will hope that Mosquera can help to keep the door shut at the back.
