Charlton Athletic manager Michael Appleton insists he understands how strongly the Addicks can finish the season despite another loss, away at Burton Albion.

Appleton has been backed by Charlton in the transfer window and notably named new boys Conor Coventry, Tyreeq Bakinson and Freddie Ladapo in the starting eleven at the Pirelli Stadium.

The Addicks though conceded in each half at Burton to go down to a 2-0 defeat which further deepens their League One woes.

Charlton are just four points above the relegation zone in League One and have the second worst form in the division taken over the last nine games.

Appleton admits that there is an issue with concentration in his side, but he insists that he knows the strong finish that the squad can deliver.

“The reality is we are where we are because lacks of concentration at certain times has certainly hurt us”, Appleton told the South London Press.

“We’ve got an understanding of how strongly we can finish the season, what we can get out of the season.

“It’s up to me and the staff and the players to try and deliver that.”

Charlton are next in action against Northampton Town at the Valley on Tuesday evening, before then heading to take on Blackpool next weekend.
