Charlton Athletic boss Michael Appleton is holding his pre-match press conference amid speculation he is set for the chop, according to the South London Press.

Appleton has been backed by fresh faces in this month’s transfer window, while the club remain in the market to do even more business.

Performances on the pitch have been poor though and Charlton lost again at Burton Albion in League One at the weekend.

Charlton have lost eleven of their 27 league games, winning just seven and are only four points above the trapdoor into League Two.

It has been speculated that Appleton is set to lose his job as Addicks boss.

He is though in his chair leading the pre-match press conference.

Northampton Town provide the opposition for Charlton on Tuesday evening in League One.

It remains to be seen if Appleton will be able to strengthen his position by guiding Charlton to all three points against Northampton.
