Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to try to sign Adam Wharton in January due to Blackburn Rovers’ financial demands, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been attracting the prying eyes of top-flight clubs with his performances in the Championship.

Despite his tender years, he has been one of the most consistent players in the Blackburn team and has made 22 starts in the league this season.

Tottenham are amongst the Premier League sides who have their eyes on Wharton, intending to potentially sign him.

However, it has been claimed that a deal is unlikely to happen in January due to Blackburn’s demands.

Wharton has a contract until 2028 with Blacburn and the club are under no pressure to sell him at the moment.

The Championship side want a premium fee if they are to agree to sell the teenage midfielder in the winter window.

For the moment, Tottenham nor any of his suitors have shown the appetite to spend big money on Wharton in January.
