Daniel Munoz has gone on strike at Genk in order to force a transfer to Crystal Palace ahead of next Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

The 27-year-old right-back has emerged as a target for Crystal Palace, who are pushing to sign him from Genk.

The London club are in talks with Belgian giants over securing a deal to take Munoz to Selhurst Park but an agreement is still not in place.

However, progress has been slow and Genk are insistent that Palace’s offer for the defender is still below their financial expectations.

According to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the defender has taken matter into his own hands to force his way out of Genk.

It has been claimed that Munoz is refusing to train with the rest of the Genk squad as a form of protest.

He has informed the Belgian giants that he wants to join Crystal Palace before the transfer window closes.

Palace have alternative targets they are prepared to pursue if Genk refuse to compromise and sell Munoz at a reasonable price.

The player is pushing Genk to work out an agreement with Crystal Palace and let him move to the Premier League.
