MK Dons have been left shocked by how much French side Toulouse are willing to pay them for former Leeds United talent Max Dean, but do not want to sell, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The 19-year-old striker, who came through the youth set-up at Elland Road, has impressed this season, scoring nine times in 21 League Two appearances for MK Dons.

He has been a big part of a side that are chasing promotion to League One this season but MK Dons are now facing the threat of losing the forward in the final week of the winter window.

It has been claimed that Toulouse have made a move to take the forward to France in the coming days and the size of the proposal has shocked MK Dons.

The French side have been left impressed by the teenager and are pushing to secure his signing before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Toulouse are prepared to pay as much as £1m to MK Dons to take the forward away from them in the next few days.

The League Two side have been taken aback by the offer from Toulouse as they were not expecting to sell Dean.

However, they are battling hard to keep the forward at the club as losing him could dent their chances of promotion.

Dean was snapped up by MK Dons from Leeds on a permanent basis and it remains to be seen if any sell-on clause was included which would see the Whites net cash if he is sold.
