Lazio have opened talks with Sunderland in a bid to find an agreement to sign winger Jack Clarke.

Landing a winger before the transfer window shuts is a priority for the Serie A giants and they have been considering their options.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil is a player who has been closely put under the microscope by Lazio, but they are moving for someone else.

They have contacted Championship side Sunderland to discuss a deal for Clarke, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

Lazio feel that Clarke fits the bill and have been impressed by his displays for the Black Cats in the English second tier.

Clarke though is not likely to be cheap for Lazio to sign.

Brentford looked at Clarke, but recently turned away due to Sunderland’s demands for the winger.

Lazio have until Thursday night to come up with a proposal which satisfies Sunderland, who may also want to bring in a replacement before allowing Clarke to move on.
