Lille are looking to hijack Cardiff City’s swoop for Valerenga striker Andrej Ilic and could put more favourable terms than the Welsh side on the table.

Ilic is the striker that Cardiff would like to bring in through the door before the transfer window closes this month.

The Bluebirds have appeared to be on course to get their man after they made a breakthrough in talks with Valerenga.

The move is now at real risk though as, according to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, Lille have pushed themselves into the mix for Ilic.

The French top flight side have slapped in a late proposal of €3.75m plus bonuses to sign the Serbian striker.

Lille are hoping they can now beat Cardiff to Ilic’s signature.

They are likely to be able to offer quicker payment terms than Cardiff and more guarantees as part of the deal.

How Ilic feels about a possible move to Lille instead of Cardiff remains to be seen, but the clock is ticking down on the transfer window.
