Newcastle United have approached Aston Villa for Jacob Ramsey but he is likely to be beyond their reach unless they bring in significant money from a sale in the final days of the transfer window, according to The Athletic.

The midfielder is considered a big talent at Villa Park and numerous clubs have their eyes on trying to snare him away from the Midlands club.

Tottenham have made their admiration for Ramsey clear and he is on the radar of German champions Bayern Munich.

The 22-year-old has also emerged as a serious option for Newcastle who are in the market for a midfielder.

It has been claimed that the Magpies have already approached Aston Villa to discuss a potential deal for a transfer in the coming days.

Eddie Howe wants to bring in a midfielder and Newcastle are considering snapping up Ramsey as part of their plans.

However, any deal for the player seems out of reach for Newcastle due to their financial constraints.

Unless they can bring in big money from a significant sale, Newcastle are unlikely to succeed in their attempts to sign Ramsey.

Aston Villa also need to bring in funds to stay compliant with the Premier League’s financial rules and could listen to offers for Ramsey around the £50m region.
