West Ham United have rebuffed Crystal Palace’s approach for Leeds United target Ben Johnson, according to The Athletic.

Leeds are keen on adding a full-back to their defence before the window shuts and West Ham Johnson is on their list.

However, Leeds are not the only club interested in adding the 24-year-old to their squad, as Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are also in the race.

The Eagles have not been able to make any progress however, as they have seen West Ham turn an approach down.

West Ham do not want to lose Johnson now and are plotting a new deal for him, which saw Palace told they will not sell now.

Johnson has featured only three times in the league for West Ham and Leeds boss Daniel Farke is an admirer of his talents.

His contract with West Ham is set to expire at the end of June and Johnson has already rejected a contract extension from the Hammers.

The Hammers are prepared to run the risk of it expiring though as they believe they can convince him to pen fresh terms.
