Newcastle United have priced Jamaal Lascelles out of a move to Besiktas after telling the Turkish club they want €3m to let him go this month.

The 30-year-old has entered the final six months of his contract at St James’ Park and will be a free agent if the Magpies fail to tie him down to a new contract.

Lascelles has as a result been strongly linked with leaving Newcastle before the window closes.

The defender has been attracting interest from Turkey where Besiktas have been keen admirers.

Besiktas have been working on taking Lascelles to Istanbul and it was thought the deal might happen.

However, according to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Besiktas will not be proceeding due to the money that Newcastle want.

Newcastle United are demanding a €3m fee for the defender which the Turkish side are unwilling to pay.

Besiktas believe that €3m is too much for a player who does not have long left on his Newcastle contract.
