Blackpool and Barnsley are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday midfielder George Byers, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.

The 27-year-old has been a regular feature in the Wednesday squad but has not featured in their last three Championship games.

The Owls are interested in listening to offers for a player who is in the last six months of his contract.

Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to move on the midfielder before the transfer window closes on Thursday night.

It has been claimed that two League One clubs in Blackpool and Barnsley are interested in doing a deal to sign him.

The two third-tier sides are pushing to secure a deal to sign the Scotsman in the coming days.

Byers will be studying the options on his table before considering his next club before the end of the window on Thursday night.

The 27-year-old, who has featured 78 times for Sheffield Wednesday, also has experience of playing in the third tier of English football.
