Duncan McGuire’s impending arrival is unlikely to change Blackburn Rovers’ stance on not wanting to sell Ipswich Town target, Sam Gallagher, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

Gallagher has been a target for Ipswich all winter with Kieran McKenna keen to take him to Portman Road in the ongoing window.

The Blues recently signed Ali Al-Hamadi from AFC Wimbledon but the Ipswich boss still wants to sign one more striker before Thursday’s deadline.

Blackburn were initially receptive to negotiations and Ipswich even tabled a £2m bid but Rovers changed their mind about selling Gallagher.

They are on the cusp of signing McGuire from Orlando City but that is not likely to have a bearing on the 28-year-old’s future.

Blackburn are still intending to hold on to the forward despite Ipswich’s interest in signing him

Gallagher has netted 47 times in 217 appearances for the club and is likely to be at Blackburn beyond Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Ipswich will have to look at other targets if they want to bring in one more striker in the next 24 hours.
