Everton star Mason Holgate is set to terminate his loan spell with Southampton to join Sheffield United, according to talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old centre-back joined Southampton from Everton on a season-long loan in the summer.

However, his move to St. Mary’s has not gone as he expected, as he has made just five appearances for Russell Martin’s side.

The Everton loanee has suitors in the market, as VfB Stuttgart and Sheffield United have been showing interest in him.

Everton have no issue with cutting short his loan spell with Southampton as long as they send him back on loan to another club.

Sheffield United are keen on staying up in the Premier League and are pushing to sign Holgate.

And it has been claimed that Everton are set to cut short Holgate’s stay at St. Mary’s so that he can move to Bramall Lane.

Stuttgart also made a move for Holgate, but it has been said that the German outfit have backed down from signing him.
