Ajax’s counter-proposal for Chuba Akpom is not acceptable to Nottingham Forest but the striker is pushing for a move to the City Ground.

Akpom’s future is facing a decisive few hours as Forest push to sign the forward from Ajax before the transfer window closes tonight.

Nottingham Forest tabled a bid to sign the forward on loan with a €15m option to buy that would be automatically triggered if he plays a certain number of games.

Ajax have been forced into making a call on the striker’s future late in the window and they made a counter-offer to Forest.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, the Dutch champions want a package of €17m and want the number of games that Akpom would have to play to trigger the purchase clause lowered.

Ajax also demanded that there will be an obligation to buy for Nottingham Forest if they got relegated from the Premier League.

The counter-offer from Ajax is unacceptable to Nottingham Forest and they do not want to sign off on such terms.

Akpom is pushing for a move to the City Ground in the final hours of the transfer window.

The two clubs are rapidly running out of time to work out an agreement for the transfer of the striker.
