Southampton are closing in on a loan deal to sign FC Porto’s 19-year-old midfielder Ussumane Djalo on deadline day, according to the Daily Echo.

The teenage midfielder has been a regular feature for Porto B and has represented Portugal at Under-19 level.

Djalo has been scouted by several clubs in the Premier League such as Manchester United, Everton and Brighton.

Southampton have also been keeping tabs on him and have made a move to sign him on loan.

They are in talks with Porto to finalise a deal that would see Djalo move to the south coast of England for the rest of the season.

Saints are confident of wrapping up a deal to sign the midfielder on loan before the window closes tonight.

He will be inserted into Southampton’s Under-21 side once the deal goes through in the coming hours.

The Championship club want to assess his quality until the end of the season before discussing the possibility of signing Djalo on a permanent deal.
