Nathan Jones might not be confirmed as Charlton Athletic’s new manager today, according to the South London Press.

The Addicks have been searching for a new manager since deciding to show Michael Appleton the door following a run of poor results in League One.

Former Southampton boss Jones has emerged as the man that Charlton now want at the helm.

Jones is expected to be at the Valley this afternoon to watch Charlton take on Derby County in a League One clash.

It had been thought that everything is in place for Charlton to confirm the Welshman’s appointment today, in what would be a boost for the Addicks.

However, it appears that Jones might not be confirmed as boss today.

The contract between Charlton and Jones needs to be legally signed off by the League Managers’ Association.

Jones endured a poor spell at Southampton in his last job as he was unable to stop the rot at St Mary’s and was shown the door.

The Welshman will be hoping for a more successful stint at Charlton.
