Former Sweden and Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Edman is convinced that Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou will hand Lucas Bergvall playing time and not send him out on loan.

Spurs pulled off a surprise when they convinced the Swedish talent to choose them over Barcelona recently and he will arrive at the club in the summer.

The 18-year-old midfielder is still in the infancy of his career, but it has been claimed part of Spurs beating Barcelona to him was a promise of first team chances.

Former Sweden and Tottenham defender Edman is convinced that his countryman will get some chances in the autumn as he insists Spurs have not splashed the cash just for a mascot.

He also ruled out any chance that Tottenham will loan out Bergvall soon and expects playing time.

“Now, I’m just guessing, but everyone does. I think given the price tag, he will definitely get some minutes in some form”, Edman told Swedish daily Expressen.

“They don’t bring over Bergvall to have him as some funny mascot.

“I definitely don’t believe in any loans this autumn.

“He will get playing time.”

Tottenham are claimed to be paying out around £8.5m to take Bergvall from Swedish side Djurgarden.

He will officially join Tottenham on 1st July and put pen to paper to a five-year deal in north London.
