Blackburn Rovers are expecting to hear back about whether their appeal to sign Duncan McGuire is successful on Monday, according to The Athletic.

The Championship side worked hard throughout deadline day to put a deal in place to sign the attacker from Orlando City.

Blackburn though made a clerical error with the paperwork relating to the deal and it is far from clear whether they will be able to sign McGuire.

Now it has emerged that Blackburn are expecting to hear the appeal verdict on Monday.

The Ewood Park side will find out whether they will be able to sign McGuire or whether the transfer is instead off.

Orlando City have been left shocked at developments as they believed the transfer was on track.

McGuire is still in England as he waits to learn whether he will be able to join Blackburn.

Blackburn are struggling on the pitch under boss Jon Dahl Tomasson and seeing McGuire’s transfer collapse would be a big blow for the club.
