Barry Ferguson has slammed the Aberdeen board for being far too trigger-happy and feels Barry Robson should have got at least until the end of the season.

Aberdeen are sitting eighth in the Scottish Premiership standings and sacked Robson at the end of last month following a poor run of results.

They have brought in Neil Warnock as an interim boss while they continue their search for a permanent manager.

Ferguson conceded that Robson was struggling due to a few poor results but stressed that he should have got the opportunity to at least end the season at Aberdeen.

He feels the Aberdeen board could have waited to see whether he could get them into the top six and stressed that the club are too trigger-happy with their managers.

Ferguson said on the Go Radio Football Show: “Yes, he went through a tough time with a few sticky results, but give him until the end of the season and see if he can turn it around.

“See if he can get that top six and fourth place; they are certainly not getting third place as that’s Hearts’ all day long.

“I think they are just too trigger-happy.”

Warnock will start with a tough test tonight when he takes his Aberdeen side to face Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
