Aberdeen legend Willie Miller believes Neil Warnock will take heart from the fact that his team handled the hostile atmosphere at Rangers well despite coming away with a defeat.

Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Ibrox on Tuesday night to go level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings.

The home side dominated the game but the Dons kept themselves interested and almost scored an equaliser towards the end.

Miller stressed that Aberdeen were always going to have their backs against the wall at Ibrox given the way Rangers have been playing under Philippe Clement over the last few months.

However, he believes Warnock will count his positives in the way his players handled the hostile Ibrox atmosphere and kept concentrating and making it difficult for Rangers.

The Aberdeen legend said on BBC Radio Scotland: “When you come to Ibrox you expect to have to defend.

“They are a top side and they are playing a much better standard than they have been for most of this season.

“I think he will be more than pleased with his team in the way they kind of dealt with the atmosphere.

“The atmosphere here is much higher and much more electric and the Rangers players are trying to wind up that atmosphere as well.

“When you are playing in that atmosphere it makes it even more difficult and what you have to do is concentrate.

“I thought Aberdeen concentrated defensively and did particularly well.”

Aberdeen are still ninth in the league table and they have ten games to break into the top six before the split happens.
