Adrian Clarke is of the view that Nathan Jones has taken a risk by accepting the Charlton Athletic job as he is not sure about the owners of the club.
Charlton sacked Michael Appleton last month following a poor run in League One which sent the Addicks tumbling down the table and worrying about relegation.
Jones has been appointed as their new manager and he was in the stands to watch his new team suffer defeat at home against Derby County last weekend.
He has taken charge of the team ahead of their trip to Reading on Saturday but Clarke conceded that the Welshman has taken a risky career move by accepting the Charlton job.
The former EFL star is not sure about the owners Charlton have and stressed that they have had a history of making bad mistakes at other clubs as well.
He also insisted that Charlton’s form at the moment means that Jones has a lot to do to improve the team.
Clarke said on the What The EFL Podcast: “It’s a risky move, isn’t it?
“Not sure I really have a lot of faith in the ownership, the people that are running the club.
“Not disrespectfully, but they have a chequered history and they made a lot of mistakes down the years, not just at Charlton.
“They only had one win since 1st November, no clean sheet in 18 and there is work to do.”
Charlton are sitting 19th in the League One standings, but are only kept outside the relegation zone by a single point.
