Sweden are keen on Jon Dahl Tomasson as their new national team boss if he departs his role at Blackburn Rovers, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Tomasson is unhappy at Blackburn after budget cuts and what has been seen by some as a lack of backing in the transfer market.

The Danish tactician has been tipped to leave Ewood Park and it has been suggested that could happen very soon.

And Tomasson is already attracting attention ahead of his likely free agent status, with Sweden interested in him taking the national team job.

Tomasson impressed in Swedish football while in charge at Malmo and the country’s FA are firm admirers.

The Dane must still finalise the terms of his exit from Blackburn however.

Taking over as Sweden boss though is something that appeals to Tomasson and he will be keen to work out an exit with Blackburn.

Blackburn have been sucked down into the lower reaches of the Championship following a poor run of form.
