Manchester United have identified Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite as their primary centre-back target with Tottenham Hotspur also pushing to sign him, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League giants are already firming up plans for the next transfer window with INEOS wanting to make a major impact in their first summer.

Manchester United want to sign two centre-backs ahead of next season with a left-footed defender as one of their main focuses.

Branthwaite has been on Manchester United’s radar and he has been one of the several left-footed defenders they are tracking.

However, it has been claimed that the Everton defender is their top target for the next summer transfer window.

Several other clubs have made enquiries for Branthwaite intending to potentially sign him.

But Manchester United and Tottenham are the two clubs who are pushing the hardest to sign the centre-back.

INEOS want to focus on bringing in young British talents and Branthwaite has emerged as a big target.

The size of the offer will depend on how Everton finish the season given they are currently in the relegation zone.

But Manchester United and Tottenham battling for Branthwaite is likely to be good news for Everton as it could push up the fee.
