Danny Collins is of the opinion that Sunderland should utilise their set piece opportunities more to score goals.

Sunderland are in seventh place in the Championship table and they are keen on landing a playoff spot this season.

However, the Black Cats are still struggling with goalscoring issues and Michael Beale has a tough task on his hands to solve that problem.

And Collins is of the view that Sunderland do not make most of the set piece opportunities they receive during games.

He also added that while Dan Ballard has scored from some set pieces this season, Sunderland need to focus on utilising set pieces more to score goals.

When asked about whether Sunderland get more set-piece opportunities, Collins said on Total Sport: “Yes, we do.

“We do get a lot of corners in games, usually ten plus and we do not perhaps make enough of them.

“Dan Ballard is obviously going forward, he has got a couple himself this season, but in general, with the amount of set plays we get, we should be scoring more.”

Sunderland are on a three-match unbeaten run in the league and Beale will hope to continue their unbeaten run against relegation strugglers Huddersfield Town.
