The man attempting to buy West Brom will be at the Baggies’ clash with Southampton in the Championship on Friday night, according to the Express & Star.

Shilen Patel, an American medical entrepreneur, is keen to take over West Brom and has been tipped to get the deal done.

There is growing confidence that Patel will be able to take control of the club for a deal worth around £60m; £40m worth of debt plus running costs for the rest of the campaign.

The deal, which would see Patel take over from Guochuan Lai, could see talks about it wrapped up within the next two weeks.

And in a sign of Patel’s confidence, he is heading to watch West Brom in action.

Patel will be in the stands on Friday night when West Brom take on automatic promotion chasing Southampton.

The game will be an early opportunity for Carlos Corberan to impress his likely next boss.

Corberan currently has West Brom sitting fifth in the Championship standings, though they are eleven points behind fourth placed Ipswich Town.
