Matt Piper has brushed off Leicester City’s loss against Middlesbrough as a ‘blip’ and is backing the Foxes to try to put it right at Leeds United.

At the weekend, Leicester City suffered their first home defeat, at the hands of Middlesbrough, since early November, when Leeds stole a 1-0 victory at the King Power Stadium.

On Friday, Enzo Maresca will take his side to Elland Road to lock horns with Daniel Farke’s Leeds in the hope of getting back to winning ways.

Piper believes that Leicester are having an extraordinary season and is confident that the defeat against Middlesbrough was a minor deviation from the good form the Foxes have maintained so far this season.

He pointed out that against Leeds, Maresca’s side have to right the wrongs they made in their last game and thinks that their visit to Elland Road will be Leicester’s toughest away game of the Championship this season.

“What we have done other than Reading obviously, is more or less unprecedented”, Piper said on BBC Radio Leicester.

“And that is why we are still on for one of the Championship records for points.

“I still think we can get there.

“I think this [the Middlesbrough defeat] was just a blip and we will have to try and put it right on Friday night, which is probably the most difficult away game of the whole Championship season.”

Leeds are nine points behind Leicester City in the league table and the Foxes will be hoping to extend the lead over the Whites by defeating them on Friday.
