Derby County new boy Dwight Gayle is clear that he wants to help the Rams by providing goals and added that he will offer a calm head during tough situations.

The Rams were dealt a massive blow during their game with Exeter City when their frontman, James Collins suffered a ligament injury that has left him out of action for several weeks.

Derby were quick to act to bring in a replacement for Collins in the form of Gayle, who recently left Stoke City.

Paul Warne’s side are keen on achieving promotion this season and Gayle pointed out that he has experience dealing with similar situations.

The forward stated that he hopes to help Derby score goals and added that he will provide a calm head to help his team when things get tough in the promotion chase this season.

When asked about what he brings to the Rams, Gayle told Derby County’s official media: “I have a lot of experience in this situation.

“I would love to bring some goals and some excitement to the team and a calm head around the place to help when things perhaps get a bit tense and stuff and hopefully get us over the line.”

Gayle featured 12 times in all competitions for Stoke City this season before leaving the club through mutual termination of his contract in early February.
