Former EFL star Adrian Clarke has insisted that Hull City are reaping the rewards of good recruitment in the ongoing season.

Hull ended Southampton’s long unbeaten run at home on Tuesday night when they beat them 2-1 at St. Mary’s.

The Tigers have won their last four games on the road and are occupying the final promotion playoff spot in the Championship standings.

Clarke is not surprised to see Hull do well this season because he felt that their recruitment was spot on in the previous two transfer windows.

He believes they reaping the rewards of bringing in the right kind of players and pointed at the quality of footballers in the Hull squad at this stage of the season.

Clarke said on the What The EFL Podcast: “I quite fancied them ahead of the season because I thought they recruited well.

“They have gone again with good recruitment.

“Look at the players they have got – Liam Delap is out but they have [Anass] Zaroury in there, Fabio Carvalho, Billy Sharpe was on the bench.

“They have added some quality.”

Hull have a big game lined up in the Championship on Saturday when they will host fellow playoff spot contenders West Brom at the MKM Stadium.
