Barcelona are no longer expecting to sign Everton midfielder Amadou Onana in the summer due to financial limitations.

Onana is expected to move on from Everton at the end of the season with a whole host of clubs chasing his signature.

Arsenal and Newcastle United considered signing in the winter transfer window and he is believed to be one of Manchester United’s top midfield targets for the summer.

Barcelona have also been watching him with the club keen to add a physical midfielder to their squad at the end of the season, and he has been firmly in their sights.

However, according to Catalan daily Sport, a move for the Everton star is unlikely to materialise in the summer as it is claimed he is worth too much.

Everton are likely to demand at least €60m from his sale, but Barcelona were hoping to do a deal for around €40m.

The Catalan giants were hoping that Onana would push for a move to the Nou Camp, which could have forced Everton to compromise.

But it has been claimed that Barcelona are no longer expecting to do a deal to sign the Belgian, with it suggested ‘it seems like he will not come’ to the club.

The Catalan giants believe they will not be able to financially compete with Onana’s suitors in the summer.
