Oxford United have opened talks with the representatives of Barrow star Dean Campbell as they look to sign him, according to Football Scotland.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder came through the ranks of the Aberdeen academy and joined Barrow on a free transfer in the summer.

Campbell has been a regular in Barrow’s starting line-up and he is considered a key member of the squad at the League Two club.

His performances have not gone unnoticed and Oxford are now in talks with Campbell’s agents.

U’s boss Des Buckingham is impressed with his performances for Barrow this season and wants to add him to his squad.

Oxford United are promotion hopefuls this season and they are currently in seventh place in the League One table.

Campbell could be in line for a move to Oxford, however the U’s would have to agree a deal with Barrow as he is under contract.

The defensive midfielder has a contract with Barrow that expires in June 2025 and it remains to be seen whether a move to Oxford will be on the cards for Campbell in the summer.
