Former Argentina goalkeeper Hugo Orlando Gatti has claimed that Real Madrid should snap up Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez if they want a new shot-stopper.

Martinez has been a massive player for Aston Villa since joining the club and his career has gone from strength to strength since he arrived in the Midlands.

He played a big role in Argentina winning the World Cup in 2022 and has often been linked with a move to one of the heavyweights of European football.

Gatti indicated that the Aston Villa goalkeeper is good enough to play for a club as big as Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are well-settled when it comes to goalkeeping options at the moment, but Gatti would be happy to advise Florentino Perez to pounce.

The former Argentina international feels that Real Madrid should try to get their hands on Martinez if they want to.

Gatti was quoted as saying by TNT Sports: “If I were Florentino Perez, I would take Dibu Martinez to the Real Madrid goal.

“I talk to him but I have respect for him to not tell him those things.

“If one day he asks me, of course, I would tell him.”

Martinez, 31, has more than three years left on his contract with Aston Villa.
