Everton are considering submitting a bid to Benfica for their midfielder Florentino Luis, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder is a product of Benfica’s esteemed youth academy and he is a regular in their starting line-up.

During the winter transfer window, Sean Dyche was keen to add Luis to his midfield to help with Everton’s relegation battle.

Everton submitted a €30m bid to acquire the services of the Portuguese, which they saw rejected by Benfica.

The Goodison Park outfit have retained their interest in Luis and are considering once again trying to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

It has been claimed that Everton are thinking about putting in a bid to convince Benfica to let Luis leave.

Luis has three more years left on his current contract with the Portuguese club and has a €120m release clause.

777 partners have an agreement with Farhad Moshiri about the takeover of Everton, but they are facing some difficulty finalising the deal.

Despite their off-field ownership situation, Everton are trying to strengthen their squad for next season.
