The agent of Chelsea and Manchester United-linked midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, Bart Baving, has insisted that it would be a surprise if clubs were not keeping tabs on his client ahead of the summer transfer window.

Koopmeiners has been a star at Atalanta this season and played a big part in them winning the Europa League this week.

The Dutchman’s performances have led to speculation about him moving on from Atalanta in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are amongst the clubs keeping tabs on him while Chelsea are keen and he is also believed to be a top midfield target for Serie A giants Juventus.

Baving admitted that given the way Koopmeiners has been playing it would not be a surprise if clubs are keeping a watch on his client ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, he insisted that the Dutchman is happy at Atalanta and is focused on finishing the Serie A campaign at the club.

Baving told Italian outlet “Teun is having a fantastic season, he has scored many beautiful and important goals, moreover he is a footballer with constant performance, so it would be strange if other clubs didn’t follow him.

“We know how football works.

“For now, he is very happy to have won the Europa League with Atalanta, and he will focus on finishing Serie A well, given that Atalanta can still finish third.

“And then on to the European Championship.

“That’s all I can say for now.”

Atalanta are expected to ask for a figure north of the €60m figure before agreeing to sell him.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have uncertainty over their managerial situations and Koopmeiners is likely to want to know who will be in charge before he would agree to join either of them.

Fellow suitors Juventus are expected to appoint Thiago Motta as boss.
