Everton have had no contact from Manchester United from Jarrad Branthwaite and are insistent that they will not be bullied into lowering their asking price for the defender, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 21-year-old centre-back has had an impressive season at Everton and is wanted at some top Premier League clubs this summer.

Manchester United are interested in taking him to Old Trafford as part of their squad overhaul in the next transfer window.

However, Everton’s £80m asking price is an obstacle and Manchester United’s initial offer is likely to be half of that figure.

It has been claimed that Everton are yet to be contacted by Manchester United for Branthwaite ahead of the summer.

Everton are also keen to dig in their heels with regards to sticking to their asking price for the talented young defender.

The Toffees do not want to get bullied into selling one of their best players just because of the club’s tricky financial situation.

Everton believe with regards to some of the money paid for defenders in recent years, they are well within their rights to demand £80m for Branthwaite.

Whether the Toffees hold to their stance as the weeks go by remains to be seen.
