Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal to sign midfielder Daichi Kamada on a free transfer after talks over a new contract with Lazio collapsed, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Kamada joined Lazio on a one-year deal last summer and still has an option to sign a three-year contract by the end of today.

His entourage were discussing a new contract that would have seen him sign a different deal with Lazio with a slight adjustment to his salary.

Crystal Palace have been chasing him for a while but it seemed earlier this week that the midfielder would be staying at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, it has been claimed that the midfielder is now close to agreeing on a move to Selhurst Park.

Negotiations with Lazio have collapsed and he will not be signing a new contract with the Serie A giants.

Oliver Glasner spoke with the Japanese midfielder to convince him to move to Crystal Palace this summer.

The Crystal Palace manager coached him at Eintracht Frankfurt and is set to play a big part in Palace landing the midfielder.
