Outgoing Watford goalkeeper Ben Hamer is ‘set to join’ Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer, according to BBC Sheffield.

Danny Rohl managed to keep Sheffield Wednesday up in the Championship by finishing 20th in the recently concluded season.

The Owls do not want a repeat of last season’s struggles and Rohl received assurances about backing in the market when he signed a new deal.

Goalkeeper is a position Rohl wants to beef up, as they have been left with only two options in the form of Cameron Dawson and Pierce Charles in that area.

Rohl wants to bring in an experienced goalkeeper and Watford’s 36-year-old Hamer is ‘set to join’.

Hamer will leave Watford at the end of June when his contract expires and is set to join Sheffield Wednesday.

The goalkeeper joined Watford in the summer of 2022 and has racked up a total of 22 appearances for the Championship outfit.

Hamer has experience of playing 158 Championship games and the Owls believe that he could be a good fit in their squad.
