Birmingham City are pushing to secure a deal for the signature of Barnsley midfielder Callum Styles this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Styles spent last season on loan at Sunderland and is expected to move on from Barnsley in the ongoing transfer window.
Clubs in the Championship have shown an interest in getting their hands on the Hungarian midfielder this summer.
However, it has been claimed Birmingham are plotting an ambitious bid to sign Styles ahead of the new season.
Blues are looking to bounce straight back up after getting relegated from the Championship to League One last season and have cash to spend.
Styles is a player they like and they are prepared to splash the cash to improve their squad this summer.
He is in the final year of his contract and is available for a fee of somewhere around £500,000.
Birmingham have also been trying to sign Scott Twine but are yet to agree on a fee with Burnley and are facing competition from Bristol City.
