West Brom have failed with an attempt to try and take free agent defender Mickael Nade to the Hawthorns.

Nade, 25, is out of contract at French side Saint-Etienne and has been considering his options this summer.

Carlos Corberan’s Baggies went in with a proposal to convince Nade to move to England on a free transfer.

Despite an offer from West Brom being on the table though, the centre-back has chosen to stay at Saint-Etienne.

The French side have been keen to keep him and Nade has now agreed to sign a four-year deal at the club, according to French daily Le Progres.

Saint-Etienne are putting the finishing touches to the contract which will keep the defender at the club.

Nade made 23 appearances in Ligue 2 for Saint-Etienne last season, being booked twice and sent off once.

West Brom will now have to look elsewhere for another centre-back after missing out on landing Nade.
