Stockport County look to have beaten off competition from Wigan Athletic for Crystal Palace starlet Tayo Adaramola, according to the South London Press.

Palace defender Adaramola has been attracting attention this summer and the Eagles are keen for a loan spell to further speed the 20-year-old’s development.

He spent time on loan in Belgium at Molenbeek last term and is now poised to leave Selhurst Park again.

Wigan and Italian side Pisa have both been keen to sign Adaramola, but they are set to lose out.

Stockport are poised to win the race for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.

County won the League Two title last season and will be able to offer Adaramola the chance to play his football in League One next term.

Stockport, who are in pole position for Adaramola, will now be looking to get the deal over the line quickly and see off any threat of a late hijack.

Adaramola made 14 appearances in Belgium during the course of his loan stint last season and was booked just once.
