A star that Charlton Athletic are closing in on wants to be in Nathan Jones’ Addicks team on a regular basis, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Jones is continuing his shopping spree and is in need of a goalkeeper after Harry Isted closed in on a switch to Burton Albion.
Charlton are set to solve their issue by snapping up free agent Asmir Begovic, who has been linked with a host of clubs.
Begovic is expected to sign for Charlton and wants to be Jones’ number 1 option between the sticks.
The shot-stopper, at 37 years old, wants to be playing on a week in, week out basis, but it is unclear if Charlton have given him any guarantees.
Begovic made 45 appearances for QPR in the Championship over the course of last season and kept 13 clean sheets.
He also wore the skipper’s armband at Loftus Road.
Joining Charlton allows Begovic to stay near to where he is based, which is another plus for an Addicks move.
