Serie A giants AC Milan are still waiting for Newcastle United to raise their offer for Malick Thiaw in the ongoing transfer window.

The 22-year-old centre-back has emerged as a key target for Newcastle this summer as they seek to add one more defender.

Newcastle have been working behind the scenes to set up a deal for the German defender but so far, no agreement is in place.

Their initial offer of €30m was short of the asking AC Milan are demanding, which is believed to be around the €40m mark.

According to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the Rossoneri are still waiting for Newcastle to put in an improved offer.

It has been claimed that AC Milan want Newcastle to get close to their asking price before a deal can be agreed upon.

Newcastle are reportedly working on bringing down the asking price but the two clubs are yet to agree on a compromise.

Thiaw would be keen on a move to the Premier League if the two clubs could work out an agreement.
