Sporting Gijon midfielder Jonathan Varane could undergo a medical in the next 48 hours ahead of his proposed move to Queens Park Rangers this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a key target for QPR boss Marti Cifuentes and the club have been working on a deal to sign him for a while.
Negotiations have been ongoing between the two clubs but the final talks are taking longer than previously anticipated.
However, a deal between QPR and Sporting Gijon for the Frenchman’s transfer is claimed to be imminent.
If things go according to plan, Varane could be put through a medical by the London club in the next 48 hours.
The midfielder has been left out of Sporting Gijon’s squad for their pre-season friendly against Ponferrada this evening.
French side Metz have also been interested but QPR are set to win the race to land Varane in the coming days.
The Championship club have agreed to pay a seven-figure transfer fee to get the deal over the line.
