The agent of Bayern Munich pair Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui has been left bemused at the German giants rejecting a bid from Manchester United for the pair, according to the Athletic.

Manchester United want to sign full-back Mazaraoui and centre-back De Ligt and have been holding talks with Bayern Munich.

They put in a bid for both players on Thursday, but it was knocked back by Bayern Munich, who deem the offer not high enough.

That has left the agent of both players, Rafaela Pimenta, and the entourage of the stars, confused.

They had an understanding of what finances would be needed to get a deal for Mazraoui and De Ligt over the line and felt Manchester United had met them.

Bayern Munich rejecting the bid has caused some confusion.

The Bavarians are prepared to sell both players and had informed them that they would be willing to compromise to help smooth an exit.

Talks with Manchester United are ongoing, but to what level of fee the Red Devils are prepared to stretch to sign both players is unclear.

Manchester United already have an agreement on personal terms with both players.
