Manchester United have cooled their interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte and are looking at other central midfield options, according to The Athletic.

Ugarte has been a big target for Manchester United and the club have been trying to make headway in negotiations with PSG for several weeks.

The midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils and wants to move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, Manchester United are yet to find a breakthrough in negotiations with PSG for the midfielder’s signature.

And it has been claimed that the Red Devils have now cooled their interest in the Uruguayan midfielder.

For the moment, the two clubs are quite far apart in terms of the valuation of the player this summer.

Manchester United do not want to pay over the odds to land Ugarte and are only willing to pay what they deem as the correct fee for each target.

They are now considering other midfield targets and would only return to the negotiating table for Ugarte if PSG agreed to lower their demands.
