Newcastle United are hoping Crystal Palace will compromise over Marc Guehi after they returned for the England defender with a third bid, according to Sky Sports News.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe has identified Guehi as the top defensive target he wants to add and the club are hard at work trying to get a deal done.

That is not easy as Palace, who have already lost Michael Olise this summer, are reluctant to sanction an exit for Guehi and have already rejected two offers from Newcastle.

Now Newcastle are back with a third bid, which is an increase on the £50m they offered last week, and talks are taking place.

Crystal Palace want £65m to let Guehi move on, but Newcastle are hoping that the Eagles will agree to compromise.

Whether the Eagles do agree to bring down their price tag for Guehi remains to be seen, however that is the Magpies’ hope.

Guehi further boosted his reputation at the summer through his displays for England at Euro 2024.

Losing him would be a blow for Crystal Palace, but the Eagles are already looking at possible replacements in the event they do sell.
