Ipswich Town have not yet made a new bid for Blackburn Rovers attacker Sammie Szmodics, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Kieran McKenna’s men are pushing to land the man who scored 33 goals across all competitions last season.

They have been in detailed talks with Blackburn and the two sides have drawn close to an agreement, but are not there yet.

There remains a distance between the two clubs, albeit a small one, and a deal is widely expected to get done.

Ipswich though have not yet put a new bid on the table for Szmodics, who continues to be at the disposal of Blackburn boss John Eustace.

Szmodics scored in Blackburn’s Championship opener last week and does not look like slowing down with his red-hot goal form.

There remains time before the end of the transfer window, but Blackburn are likely to want to know whether the deal will happen soon.

Eustace’s side have transfer plans of their own and will have more cash to spend if Szmodics is sold.
