Manchester United could still secure a deal for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte towards the end of the transfer window, according to The Athletic.

Ugarte has been a top midfield target for Manchester United this summer as they look to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

The midfielder wants the move and has already agreed personal terms with the Premier League giants.

However, negotiations with PSG have been more complicated and Manchester United are in no mood to match their €60m asking price.

Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes is claimed to be trying to find a resolution to unlock the deal for Ugarte.

He was recently in England for talks with Manchester United and a deal could still be agreed upon close to the deadline day on 30th August.

Mendes is trying to bring the two clubs closer to a compromise to take Ugarte to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have refused to overpay for players this summer and do not want to fork out more than €50m for the midfielder.
