Everton are not warming up to Marseille’s loan proposal for out-of-favour striker Neal Maupay in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Maupay spent last season on loan at Brentford and still has a year left on his contract with Everton.

He was an unused substitute in Everton’s 3-0 defeat at home against Brighton on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

The Toffees are keen to move him on and Marseille are interested in getting their hands on the forward on loan this summer.

However, according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Everton are not convinced about the loan proposal from the French giants.

Marseille are keen to discuss the outlines of a loan deal and want Everton to cover some of Maupay’s wages as well.

Everton are not open to doing such a deal to move on the striker at this stage of the transfer window.

The striker is keen on the move to Marseille but for the moment the two clubs are far apart from agreeing on a deal.

Everton could yet lose Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is inside the final year of his Toffees deal.
