La Liga giants Sevilla have a deal in place with Brighton for the signature of left-back Valentin Barco on an initial loan deal this summer, having picked him ahead of Southampton’s Juan Larios.
The Spanish club have been looking to bring in a left-back, with a number of options under consideration, and were recently offered Southampton defender Larios as a potential solution.
With Brighton actively trying to sign Ferdi Kadioglu from Fenerbahce, the Seagulls have been willing to move on Barco this summer.
Sevilla prefer Barco over young Saints man Larios and have been progressing in talks with Brighton for him.
According to Spanish outlet El Sevillista, Seville are set to sign Barco on an initial loan deal from the Premier League side.
The Spanish club will also retain an option to make the move permanent for a fee of €10m at a later date.
Sevilla have also agreed to cover Barco’s entire salary during his loan stint at the Spanish club.
The defender will soon travel to Spain to complete the formalities of his move to Sevilla this summer.
With a move to Sevilla off the table for Larios, it remains to be seen where the Saints star will end up by the time the window closes.
